Requirements

  

Project Management and Construction Phase Services Support

  •  Coordinate and oversee construction-phase project activities and contract requirements, including:
    • Lead the pre-construction meetings and facilitate weekly progress meetings.
    • Review contractor material submittals, requests for information (RFI's), and change order requests.
    • Manage project schedules and budgets in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Review/facilitate processing of contractor payment applications.
    • Conduct final inspections and issue completion punch lists.
    • Oversee and ensure completion of project closeout documentation (construction updates and closeout files) in partnership with Drafting Technicians and Project Coordinators.
  • Review and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure proper execution, adherence to design intent, and      compliance with quality standards.
  • Support Field Consultant work through peer review of Daily Construction Reports (DCR's) and provide timely and constructive feedback.
  • Assist with reinforcing expectations for Field Consultants related to on-site project management and technical excellence.
  • Visit project sites as needed to support Quality Assurance efforts and to reinforce/strengthen relationships with consultants, clients, and contractors.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing schedules, resources, and priorities.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients and contractors during the project construction phase.
  • Proactively communicate with stakeholders to resolve issues and align expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams – Consultants, Account Managers, Drafters, and Coordinators – from project kickoff to closeout.
  • Foster open communication and build strong/productive relationships across the company and with internal and external stakeholders to support and ensure successful delivery of services.

Documentation, Process Improvement and Compliance

  • Ensure project documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal standards.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance workflow and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor risk factors, delays, and budget variances and implement corrective actions and/or course corrections when needed.

Leadership and Strategic Contribution

  • Represent Benchmark’s commitment to professionalism, technical excellence, and client service.
  • Participate in training or mentoring of junior staff as needed.
  • Assist with and contribute to additional key projects and initiatives as requested by the Roof Leadership Team (RLT), to ensure alignment with Benchmark's 1-Year Plan and the Roof Leadership Team's goals. 

Key Relationships

The Project Manager (Roof) reports to the Operations Manager (Roof) and is responsible for the successful execution of the construction phase of Benchmark's commercial roofing projects. They will work closely with our Consultants, Account Managers, Drafters, Project Coordinators, and Schedulers, as well as with external stakeholders (contractors, vendors, and clients).  


Qualifications

Required

  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites across the U.S. (10 - 20% of the time).
  • 2–5 years of experience in project management, design, and/or construction administration for commercial and industrial roof projects.
  • Experience with commercial roof repair/replacement and field quality assurance.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical expertise and research-based insights to meet project demands and resolve client-specific challenges.
  • Capable of managing competing deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, positive, and lasting relationships with clients.
  • Driven by a deep passion for the pursuit of technical excellence and continuous, learning, growth, and improvement.
  • Physical requirements:
    • Lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
    • Access commercial/industrial roofs via ladders, stairs and/or steps.
    • Sit, stand, stoop, and walk for extended periods of time.
    • Crawl in and out of confined spaces on occasion.

Preferred

  • Project management experience in engineering, architecture, construction management, or roofing product manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Benchmark uses Deltek Vantagepoint).
  • Exposure to the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline.
