Overview

JerseySTEM is looking for volunteers to support our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.

 

Love education or STEM? Help us keep our engineering lessons organized, updated, and fun. You'll review activities and suggest ways to make them even better for middle school girls.

 

Great for retired teachers, engineers, or anyone who enjoys organizing learning materials.

 

Your typical JerseySTEM week involves (illustrative): ~ 1 hour/day

  • Daily: Check Email, Forward Email, Answer questions by Email for 15mn-30mn

  • Monday: Review current material for a Bridge Building experiment or a Solar Spring challenge

  • Tuesday: Propose changes/simplifications. Draft a variation of the slides/worksheet

  • Wednesday: Join a meeting with the JerseySTEM Curriculum Team to discuss modifications

  • Thursday: Receive material ordered from Pitsco, Amazon or Lego to test the experiment

  • Friday: Continue drafting  the “teacher material” for those experiments

 

No Travel or in-person required, unless interested.
