Position Summary:
ProcessBarron is seeking a Design Engineer to support the design and integration of steam turbine generator installation projects. This role is responsible for developing detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), design and fabrication-level drawings. The engineer will select appropriate piping and instrumentation components, interpret project specifications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, field-ready installation packages.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and process design, with added knowledge in control systems, electrical interfaces, and PLC programming considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Design and develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), preliminary general arrangements
•    Develop 3D models, design drawings, and fabrication-level drawings
•    Review and interpret technical specifications to ensure compliance with customer and project requirements.
•    Select and specify appropriate piping, valves, sensors, transmitters, and other instrumentation components.
•    Conduct field visits as needed to gather information essential to project execution.
•    Apply company-defined procedures for drawing and bill of materials (BOM) release.
•    Maintain organized and accurate records of project-specific data in designated project folders.
•    Coordinate closely with internal/external teams, including electrical and controls engineers, project managers, and fabricators.
•    Support field installations and troubleshooting efforts as needed, including occasional site visits.
•    Document and file project details according to internal quality and organizational standards.
•    Follow company processes for drawing and BOM creation and release.

Required Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
•    Firm grasp of thermal dynamics and heat transfer.
•    Proficient in 3D modeling software (Inventor preferred; Fusion or SolidWorks acceptable).
•    Experience developing and reading PFDs and P&IDs.
•    Strong understanding of industrial piping systems and instrumentation selection.
•    Ability to interpret and apply customer specifications, drawings, and standards.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Experience using point cloud data is a plus.
•    Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Familiarity with control systems, closed-loop controls, and instrumentation wiring.
•    Knowledge of PLC programming or industrial automation.
•    Experience troubleshooting system-level issues in field or commissioning environments.
•    Exposure to electrical schematics and integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
•    Experience with piping stress analysis a plus.
