JOB SUMMARY: JE Pistons is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Product Design Engineer to support our continued growth in the high-performance automotive aftermarket. This role will be instrumental in both the design of custom pistons and the development of new products.
As a key member of our engineering team, the Product Design Engineer will work cross-functionally with Product Management, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to bring industry leading custom pistons to market. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, proficiency in CAD software (such as SolidWorks), and a general knowledge of the performance racing and automotive aftermarket.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design – Solidworks (Current Release)
- Create and maintain 3D models and drawings library.
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of standard design procedures.
- Execute design of custom pistons and new products under the direction of the Engineering supervisor.
- Create detailed engineering drawings and related specifications, including GD&T specifications with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
- Ability to perform fitment and tolerance stack analyses.
- Understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of FEA and CFD. Usage though ANSYS is a plus.
Metrology
- Understanding of CMM Output and 3D scanning technology.
- Ability to use handheld measuring gauges – Calipers, Mics, Bore Gauges, etc.
- Familiarization with usage of CMM and 3D scanning technology is a plus.
Communication
- Clearly and accurately communicates engineering information to manufacturing, sales, and marketing teams.
- Ability to work on cross-functional teams to support the core business, ensuring quality products are delivered on time.
Organization
- Ability to resolve issues quickly to ensure on time delivery of projects. The ideal candidate will have the ability and flexibility to provide solid, long term, resolutions for ongoing projects while operating in parallel on current design projects.
- Work assignments may be complex and non-routine in nature where established techniques or procedures do not yet exist. This position requires a dynamic outlook and the ability to adapt and overcome as new challenges arise.

Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
Experience:
1+ years of design engineering experience.
Computer Skills:
- CAD experience: SolidWorks required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software: Windows, Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Communication:
Excellent communication, documentation, and attention to detail
