Responsibilities are basic and routine in nature.  This may include performing administrative duties in an office, assisting in a research laboratory, aid faculty/staff in supporting academic programs or patient care.  Duties will be clear and direct.  The Student Assistant will require excellent customer service and strong organizational skills and will represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values. 

Additional Information:

The Research Assistant will support the THRIVE Research Lab (Director: Dr. Susan Yoon) and the lab’s multiple research projects focused on child welfare, childhood trauma, and child well-being and resilience. Key responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, assisting with qualitative and quantitative data collection (e.g., interviews, surveys), managing and organizing research data, performing data analyses, and contributing to manuscript preparation and other dissemination activities. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with an active research team and contribute to high-impact scholarship.

Required Qualifications

·  Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, sociology, or a related field

·  Experience with literature searches and academic databases (e.g., PubMed, PsycINFO)

·  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace

·  Strong written and verbal communication skills

·  Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

·  Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desired Qualifications

·  Experience conducting qualitative interviews and/or administering surveys

·  Proficiency with data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti, SPSS, R, Stata)

·  Prior experience with manuscript writing or academic publishing

·  Familiarity with human subjects research protocols and IRB processes

Responsibilities (With percentage breakdown)

·  Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings – 30%

·  Assist with data collection (qualitative interviews, quantitative surveys) – 25%

·  Manage and organize research data, maintain data quality, and ensure confidentiality – 15%

·  Perform data analysis (qualitative coding, quantitative statistical analysis) – 15%

·  Contribute to manuscript preparation, presentations, and other dissemination activities – 15%
