We are currently searching for a Roku Developer:
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain components of the Roku Player SDK for various Roku devices.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to enhance the video playback experience on Roku.
- Optimize streaming performance, ensuring low latency, high quality, and smooth playback using the Roku Media Player.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to media streaming, buffering, and DRM, specifically on the Roku platform using Brightscript.
- Maintain code quality through unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews, following Roku-specific testing methodologies.
- Stay updated on Roku technologies and industry best practices to support SDK evolution.
- Explore and document technical solutions and evaluate trade-offs using the latest streaming and video technologies on Roku.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on Roku development using Brightscript.
- Proficient in Brightscript and experienced with Roku SDK and Roku Media Player.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug moderately complex Roku and Brightscript issues.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile methodologies.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and collaborative team spirit.
- Experience designing and implementing moderately complex Roku applications with a focus on scalability, testability, and performance.
- Familiarity with scripting languages used in Roku development.
- Willingness to participate in on-call support for critical customer-facing Roku issues.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers on Roku development and Brightscript best practices.
- Experience with video playback on Roku devices.
- Knowledge of video analytics and telemetry in Roku applications.
Desired:
- Understanding of streaming protocols such as HLS and DASH.
- Experience with DRM technologies (e.g., PlayReady).
- Experience developing user interfaces with Roku SceneGraph framework.
- Familiarity with Roku deployment processes and channel certification.
Languages:
- Advanced Oral English.
- Native Spanish.
