Healthcare Workforce Pipeline (HWP) Coordinator (in-person, possible hybrid, or remote options. Must be based in Montezuma, La Plata, or Archuleta Counties)

Position Summary:  

The HWP Coordinator position aims to establish Axis Health System as a pilot work-based learning (WBL) site. It will serve as the Axis liaison for HWP program participants and act as the internal Axis WBL expert and training coordinator. This position will work closely with Axis’ PR and Development Manager, Director of Human Resources, Community Engagement Director, and relevant education and workforce development partners to create a streamlined WBL implementation process for healthcare organizations in the Southwest region. The Program Coordinator position is a term-limited position (through December 30, 2026).

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma; BA in related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field (education, workforce development, community engagement, program implementation, participation in grant-funded projects, and evaluation); 3-5 years of experience preferred. 
  • Employee Health Requirements: Annual FLU immunization 
  • Must have a current driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis commercial insurance agency 

 

Salary: $22.50 - $25.20 per hour, and considers preferred experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assess Axis’ capacity to implement WBL as a pathway to job placement  
  • Establish key milestones, timelines, and resources required for the successful implementation of Axis’ pilot WBL and apprenticeship program 
  • Develop ongoing fluency with changing WBL legislation and the Colorado WBL model  
  • Lead the development of WBL processes with healthcare industry partners 
  • Share program information at job fairs and community meetings  
  • Facilitate tours and engage in recruitment conversations with prospective program participants in Axis clinics, community settings, including schools 
  • Along with the Project RUN Program Navigator, provide support and advocacy for program participants, helping them navigate each step of program participation, from recruitment to employment 
  • Manage participant data collection and assist PR and Development Manager with reporting. 
  • Support Axis in the continuous improvement of the program on an ongoing basis

 Physical demands:  

Employee must occasionally lift and/or move 15 pounds up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel within the region. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
