The Opportunity:

Blueberry is entering an exciting new phase of growth and this role is pivotal to our short-term & long-term success. As our Head of Finance (first finance hire), you will lead our financial operations and strategy. This is a critical role for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment and possesses a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, particularly with direct-to-consumer and payer models. You will be instrumental in building out our financial infrastructure, optimizing our financial performance, and driving our Series B fundraising efforts.

What you’ll own:

  • Financial Strategy & Leadership:

    • You will develop and execute the company’s financial strategy to support rapid growth and profitability

    • You will provide strategic financial guidance to the exec team and BOD

    • You will lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range modeling

    • You will analyze market trends and economic conditions to inform financial decisions

  • Fundraising:

    • You will spearhead the financial aspects of our Series B fundraise, including financial modeling, investor talk tracks, and due diligence

    • You will build and maintain relationships with potential investors and financial partners

  • Financial Operations:

    • You will develop and implement robust internal controls and financial policies

    • You will manage cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditures efficiently

    • You will ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements

  • Payer & D2C Financial Management:

    • You will develop financial models and strategies specifically tailored to direct-to-consumer revenue streams and payer relationships

    • You will analyze and optimize pricing strategies for both D2C offerings & payer contracts

    • You will monitor and manage reimbursement processes and contract performance with payers

  • Business Partnering & Analytics:

    • You will partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, Product, Marketing, etc.) to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making

    • You will develop and track key financial and operational metrics to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement

    • You will conduct financial analysis for new initiatives, product launches, and market expansion

Experience you’ll need:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred

  • You have 6+ years of progressive experience in finance roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership position within a high-growth startup environment (Series A / Series B preferred)

  • You have demonstrated experience in the healthcare industry, ideally with a strong understanding of D2C models and payer relationships

  • You have a proven track record of successfully managing and executing fundraising efforts (Series B experience highly desirable)

  • You have strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • You have the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving startup environment

*Expected salary for this role is $150,000 - $180,000 USD/yr depending on location/experience
