Job Summary

The Product Owner serves as the strategic and tactical lead for one or more enterprise-level tools or platforms supporting product and portfolio management across the bank. This individual acts as the voice of the customer and business, translating strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps and deliverables that drive value, compliance, and operational efficiency. As a key liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors, the Product Owner is responsible for defining and prioritizing product features, managing the product backlog, and ensuring successful delivery aligned with regulatory, risk, and operational expectations. The role will be central in maturing enterprise tooling, ensuring data integrity, optimizing user experience, and enabling insight-driven decision-making.

 

Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership - The Product Owner is responsible for defining and driving the strategic vision of the product. This includes aligning product goals with enterprise priorities, maintaining a forward-looking roadmap, and ensuring that all enhancements or configurations deliver measurable value. The PO leads backlog prioritization, defines clear product requirements, and ensures the roadmap reflects evolving business needs, regulatory changes, and user feedback.  Activities include:
    • Defining and updating the product vision and strategy
    • Maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog
    • Creating and managing product roadmaps and release plans
    • Translating strategic initiatives into actionable epics and features
    • Representing business value in sprint planning and retrospectives
  • Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration - The PO acts as a bridge between technical teams, business units, EPMO leadership, compliance, and vendors. Success in this role requires effective communication, expectation-setting, and the ability to align multiple stakeholders on priorities, trade-offs, and timelines.  Activites include:
    • Facilitating stakeholder requirements gathering and refinement
    • Engaging with risk, compliance, and audit teams to ensure product alignment
    • Leading demos and product reviews for business and executive audiences
    • Coordinating with vendor product teams and external partners
    • Managing intake and prioritization of enhancement requests from stakeholders
  • Governance & Compliance Alignment - The Product Owner plays a critical role in ensuring the product adheres to internal governance, PMLC, SDLC, Enterprise Change Management and regulatory expectations. This includes partnering with internal control functions to maintain compliance.  Activities include:
    • Ensuring SDLC and PMO framework alignment
    • Maintaining accurate documentation of product decisions and changes
    • Supporting risk assessments, audits, and regulatory reviews
    • Implementing appropriate controls and validation steps for configuration changes
    • Overseeing change management procedures in collaboration with IT and EPMO
  • Continuous Improvement & Support - The PO supports end users and champions ongoing improvements to enhance system usability, data quality, reporting capabilities, and process efficiency. This includes managing feedback loops and identifying opportunities to maximize product adoption and value.  Activities include:
  • Triaging and resolving user-reported issues
  • Partnering and/or delivering training and communications
  • Monitoring system utilization and feedback to guide enhancements
  • Identifying opportunities for automation, streamlining, and scalability
  • Supporting operational reporting tied to project and portfolio performance

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) Business Management, Finance or related field. 
  • Minimum experience required: 4+ Years Project Management.
  • Certified Product Owner (CPO) with 1+ years of Product Ownership experience in PPM tools
    • Digital, Enterprise Applications (including Clarity, ServiceNow, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)
  • PMP Certification in good standing.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the financial sector or with organizational mergers and acquisitions
  • PMP, CPO, CSM

Job Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work across various departments and levels
  • Certifications in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma) are a plus
