Position Summary

The Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth (BBAY) is a joint powers agreement between the City of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County, and the school districts of Osseo, Brooklyn Center, Robbinsdale and Anoka-Hennepin, Hennepin Technical College & North Hennepin Community College.

The BBAY uses a collective impact framework for shared action. This means bringing a broad network of youth and adults together to act. At the BBAY we use all forms of qualitative and quantitative, visual, and other data to reach our mission: The BBAY is a backbone organization that coordinates the efforts of partners to build a system of high-quality, accessible, and fully resourced opportunities that address systemic disparities in graduation, pathways to college and career and youth safety and wellbeing.

The goal of this program is to connect Culturally Responsive Tutors (CRT) to support students during the after-school time to help students reach their academic goals & aspirations, and to offset the negative impacts of learning loss during COVID as well as other challenges youth may face. These tutors will mirror the student population: race, language, religion, economic status. We will seek to strengthen existing academic support programs and/or build new programs in partnership with schools, and above all, support youth on their pathway towards graduation, college, career and wellbeing

This position will be supervised by the Youth and Community Engagement Initiatives Coordinator.  The CRTPC will build new relationships with racially and culturally diverse tutors.  We know that there are few BIPOC teachers and staff who academically support students, this is a critical gap to fill. The CRTPC will establish partnerships with local colleges, libraries, and will recruit at different Universities, places of congregation, community gatherings, putting the word out by collaborating with community specific non-profit organizations, and work with North Hennepin and Hennepin Technical College, to recruit tutors.  The ideal candidate has:

  • Passion for supporting youth, and creating new partnerships

  • Great organizational skills that will be used to coordinate eight (8) tutors at four (4) high schools

Application Deadline:  This job posting will be open until filled.  If you have interest in this position, it is highly recommended that you apply as soon as possible upon seeing the announcement as the vacancy may close without notice.

NOTE:  This position is grant funded through June 2027 as a full-time benefited position.
