We’re looking for an entrepreneurial, experienced Business Development Manager to lead and execute our growth strategy in key markets — starting with Florida and Arizona and expanding into Texas and the East Coast (VA-FL).

VEA Connect is a fast-growing fiber optic installation and construction firm specializing in horizontal directional drilling, OSP/ISP builds, and maintenance services. In 2023 we achieved $3M in revenue. We’re on track to reach $6M in 2025, and our goal is to double again to $12M in 2026. To get there, we’re building long-term relationships, not chasing one-off jobs. VEA Connect will expand into a multi-utility business including power, water, sewer, and gas services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Secure long-term OSP/ISP contracts (10+ months) for installation, maintenance, and restoration services.

  • Target client types including ISPs, construction managers, general contractors, municipalities, utilities, and government agencies.

  • Identify and pursue RFPs, RFQs, and bid opportunities; lead end-to-end proposal submissions.

  • Build trusted relationships with city/state infrastructure leaders, public works officials, and procurement managers.

  • Represent VEA Connect at industry events, trade shows, and government networking sessions.

  • Partner with operations to align pricing, delivery expectations, and long-term service strategies.

  • Help build internal systems — CRM, proposal tools, pricing workflows — that scale with growth.

  • Track and report on sales performance, KPIs, and deal pipeline in collaboration with leadership and marketing.

  • Push senior management to grow

You’ll help shape our go-to-market strategy, establish systems, and directly impact how VEA Connect evolves as a trusted contractor in the telecom space. You must have ambition, drive, and be a problem-solver who takes initiative and ownership of tasks and programs.

Ideal Profile

  • 3–5+ years of business development in fiber optics, telecom, OSP/ISP infrastructure, or related construction fields.

  • Proven ability to win multi-month contracts and navigate public/private procurement processes.

  • Deep familiarity with FTTX buildouts, fiber restoration, and contractor operations.

  • Comfort with self-direction, developing structure in fast-moving environments, and “building the plane while flying it.”

  • Fluent in bid strategy, contract negotiation, and relationship-based sales.

  • Proficiency with CRM platforms like HubSpot or Salesforce.

  • Willingness to travel as needed to target markets, attend industry events, and meet clients face-to-face.

Preferred (but not required)

  • Existing relationships with municipal utilities, city engineers, or public procurement officers.

  • Experience with prevailing wage compliance, federal/state funding, or grant-backed projects.

  • Background in firms that scaled from $5M to $15M+, especially in construction or telecom services.
